Protecting our natural environment is intrinsic to what we do. Our collection of Low Impact holidays are part of our active commitment to reduce the carbon footprint of mountain adventures and to guide our guests to more sustainable travel options.
At Tracks and Trails we have thought about how we can make our holidays more sustainable and we want you to join us on this journey. Whilst working with Zellar, our sustainability partner, we were able to focus on how we can change the impact of our holidays. With our sustainability policy in mind we have created a collection of Low Impact holidays which guides you to those holidays we feel have the lowest environmental impact.
Our new Low Impact holiday collection promises to offer rewarding adventure travel with minimal impact on the environment. Low Impact trips offer itineraries that can be accessed by train or other overland public transport links, reducing the need to fly. Embrace the concept of making the journey part of your holiday and benefit from a slower pace to reach your destination, perfect for making our short breaks into a week long holiday. Receive our 'Travel by Train' voucher!
Tracks and Trails supports local businesses and keeps group sizes to a minimum. This allows for shared transport options, use of smaller hotels and restaurants offering a more eco-friendly travel approach to group travel.
Using over 80% locally based guides we reduce unnecessary travel, support local businesses which in turn giving our guests the opportunity to gain local knowledge and initiatives about how the area is trying to improve its sustainability.
Several of our Low Impact holidays feature mountain routes that are less frequently travelled meaning that you are more likely to have the trails to yourselves. Some also include a ‘carry all kit’ approach so that luggage transfers and other vehicle movements are kept to a minimum. There's nothing quite like travelling completely under your own steam through the mountains!
Take a look at our 'Fastpacking' blog which is full of helpful suggestions on how to reduce the weight of your backpack.
At Tracks and Trails we feel that staying in a mountain hut in a remote and stunning environment is an amazing experience. Share your time at a hut with likeminded people whilst soaking up views and the immersing yourself in the environment. There is something quite liberating about carrying all you need and using mountain huts. Not sure what to expect? Take a look at how to prepare for your stay in a hut.
Whilst travelling by another means to flying is not always feasible to help encourage our guests to consider 'trains versus planes' when possible we are offering train travellers a money off voucher towards their next holiday with us. Read our blog on How To Be A More Sustainable Traveller. Contact us with evidence of your full travel made by train or by bus to receive this discount.
New holidays will be added to this collection every season.
