We went on our first snowshoeing trip three weeks ago, staying in a delightful little hotel in St Oyen. We were by far the least fit of the party of seven, others having run the London marathon and/or climbed Mont Blanc and the Himalayas, but we had an absolutely brilliant time thanks to our wonderful guide Lindsay and the good nature of our fellow snowshoers. We did really lovely walks (climbs?) every day, stayed in a fantastic mountain refuge (the Bonatti) one night, were continually awestruck by the beauty of the scenery and views around us and definitely want to go again next year. We'll be fitter by then!
