Winter Walking Trips

6 October 2010

Autumn has reached the Alps, the trees have turned and there's a fresh dusting of snow up high. So we are thinking about winter & snowshoeing.

Fastest Growing Winter Sport?

There is more to snow holidays than skiing and winter doesn't mean you need to be carrying an ice-axe and crampons either. Enjoy exploring mountain trails on snowshoes and join one of the 'fastest growing winter sports'! Avoid lift queues and gain great alpine views with pleasurable winter exercise. Explore the mountains in winter on snowshoes.

Reach remote places and enjoy the 'Off Piste'

No experience necessary!
Snowshoeing appeals to all ages. It is popular for casual snowshoers who hike trails for pleasure, fitness fanatics seeking winter cross-training alternatives, backcountry or 'off piste 'enthusiasts who may not be skiers but wish to delve into the wilderness. It's just winter walking on snowshoes.

French, Swiss or Italian Alps?

As well as 'tailor-made' outings for groups or families, you can join us on introductory and intermediate excursions. Choose from ‘center based’ or 'point to point' trips.

The Alps give us so much to choose from.

Mont Blanc Snowshoe - (Intermediate) Enjoy 6 days of snowshoeing whilst based in a fully catered, luxury chalet plus a night in the famous St. Bernard Monastery.

Chamonix Snowshoe and Ski - (Introductory) A multi-activity week which enables you to ski both snowshoeing and cross country skiing, visiting both France and Italy.

Italian Explorer - (Intermediate) Explore the Aosta Valley's snowy peaks and enjoy a week based in Etroubles.

Swiss Snowshoe Safari - (Beginner) A long weekend in Switzerland. Enjoy a hotel-to-hotel journey whilst your luggage is transported for you!

Traverse of the Chablais NEW for 2011 - (Intermediate) - A true adventure from the mountains to lake Geneva, from hotel-to-hotel, whilst luggage is tranfered for you.

News from the Girls!

As ever we've made the most of our summers, both of us have continued exploring the Alps & beyond but mainly on two wheels! We've cycled around Mont Blanc, across the Swiss/ French Jura and even completed a superb sunny 'Routes des Grandes Alpes' (starting at Lake Geneva arriving in Nice!). Lindsay also was pleased to bag Mont Blanc, but is now packing her bags to work in Nepal for the Autumn, whilst Julia will mainly be rock climbing (& perhaps a little more biking) in the south of France.

If you would like more information on any of our trips then please do not hesitate to get in touch by email or phone.

We look forward to seeing you again in the mountains!

Julia and Lindsay

A note received from Sue last year:

"I don't know where to begin! Thank you so very much for the most wonderful week. We all without exception enjoyed it and are all serious about next year. I felt quite sad putting my shoes away for another year."
