Once existing as an individual state the two départments of Savoie and Haute Savoie have been part of France since 1860. Both areas share the same Alpine territory with their glaciers, deep gorges, mountain passes and lakes. This beautiful area of the French Alps is steeped in history, tradition and elegant mountain scenery and to this day enjoys a distinctive lifestyle rooted in the own montagnard heritage.

Skiing in the Haute Savoie offers fine views of the Mont Blanc Massif, solitude and unspoiled natural beauty aswell as good snowfall due to it's Alpine climate.

From our hotel we have numerous ski domains within easy reach with this use of our minibus. Enjoy the calm mountain ambiance amidst a variety of trails through forests, wide open valleys and high plateaus. The pistes which are always tracked and groomed, have many trails where we can lengthen or shorten our journeys.

The villages of La Clusaz and Les Confins are nestled in a delightful setting at the foot of the Chaîne des Aravis and the 'Pointe Percée' where it holds the snow well and offers superb nordic ski terrain. During our week you will have the chance to sample the local produce, such as the local Beaufort and Reblochon cheeses, and Gamay and Apremont wines aswell as soak up village life.

Day 1 Arrival in La Clusaz

We meet you at your hotel the evening you arrive to brief you on the week ahead and answer any questions.

Days 2 - 7 Ski Safari

Our first morning you will have time to organise ski rental if needed and find your 'ski-legs' choosing from a variety of trails from the hotel door through the villages of the Grand Bornand, La Clusaz and Les Confins.

The ski style for this week is 'classic style track skiing'. Each day we plan to visit a different ski area covering approximately 20 km's per day. Your guide will choose the best area to ski at depending on the snow conditions at the time, and there are plenty of regions, trails and kilometres to choose from.

Plateau d'Agy, Les Carroz, is home to traditional alpine villages surrounded by majestic limestone peaks with 72 km of ski trails.

The Plateau des Glieres sits at 1400-1700m in altitude and offers 35km of first class skiing with stunning views across the Chaînes des Aravis. The plateau stands as a symbol of honor as this was the place where 150 French resistance fighters fought for freedom during the second world war.

Les Saisies came to fame in the 1992 winter Olympics and was also the home of the Olympic Champion, Franck Paccard. Enjoy discovering upto 96km(!) of trails across the high plateau – we will stop for our picnic lunch on route to enjoy the 180° view of the Mont Blanc Massif.

Praz-de-Lys Sommand in the heart of the Chablais region has upto 80 km of sweeping nordic ski circuits.
