Our base for this week is the Obergoms Valley, the heart of the Swiss Alps, where we have up to 82km's of groomed trails to explore between Oberwald and Niederwald. With the help of the local train, which is included in your ski pass and regularly passes through, gives us the flexibility to ski in different areas of the valley and from village to village. We explore the valley on a variety of trails making it a perfect location for total beginners or improvers to Nordic skiing also known as 'Langlauf'.

  • Reliable snow conditions above 1300m
  • Explore the Swiss Valais and Uri cantons
  • 5 ski day sessions and 1 explorer day
  • Free rail within the valley with your ski pass
  • Ski from village to village on easy trails

Cross country skiing can offer more than just the enjoyment of fresh mountain air and chocolate box views but once mastered this 'low impact' exercise is a great way to improve your fitness with ever changing scenery!

Trip Level

Introductory and Intermediate level holidays in the art of cross country skiing. Ideal for those wanting to learn the basics, refresh their skills, practice techniques and progress to longer journeys.

Traverse of the Black Forest

Another cross country skiers paradise! The 'Grand Ski Traverse' of the German Black Forest is a classic 100km point-to-point journey located near the borders of France and Switzerland lies north of Freiburg and Basel. The skiing is 'classic' style or 'langlauf' cross country skiing all on prepared trails.

The Black Forest extends from 150m above sea level to the upper reaches of the Rhine River to more than 1400m above sea level in the highest mountains of the southern Black Forest. An extensive network of long-distance cross-country skiing trails and local cross-country skiing trails makes it possible to cross the length and breadth of the Black Forest.

We traverse this diverse landscape of the Upper Black Forest staying in charming guest houses and inns enjoying German hospitality along the way. The 5-day ski journey, between the villages of Schonach in the north and Belchen in the south, climbs in total about 2300m and keeps to an altitude of 1,000m most of the way. Alternate skiing through deep valleys, forests and farming communities. Each day we aim to ski approximately 20km whilst carrying just a day pack - when we arrive at our guest house we find our luggage waiting for us!

  • Make a continuous 5-day ski journey
  • No ski pass required
  • Benefit from the tourist 'Guest Card' benefits
  • Climb the highest peak in the Black Forest - Feldberg at 1493m
  • Enjoy ideally situated and luxury 2/3* hotels & traditional guest houses
  • We are one of the few operators offering this classic ski journey
  • All luggage transported for you

Trip Level

This traverse is designed for those that can confidently get on their skis and go! We grade this trip as an intermediate/advanced trip. On our first day we will spend time to find our ski legs but we do expect participants to be able ski a variety of terrain and journeys of 15-25km in length. Participants should be able to ski at a good pace and have mastered a controlled snow plough for both undulating and any steeper descents. You should be at a very good fitness level and be able to ski up to 4-6 hours per day.

Grand Traverse of the Jura

The Grande Traversée du Jura (or GTJ) is a fabulous journey over the Jura mountains crossing through France and parts of Switzerland. Located not far from Geneva, the journey is made on classic cross country skis. This 180km, long distance ski trail was first completed in 1978 and is nearly all on prepared, pressed tracks. If it is peace and tranquility and a true taste of authentic mountain life you seek then look no further!

The route starts in the Val de Morteau in the Doubs département and finishes at Giron in the Ain département crossing the Jura and the Haut-Jura regional nature reserves. The ski route with it's varied terrain and relief can't fail to impress you with it's natural charm and beautiful landscapes. The inhabitants take immense pride in their local produce and culture - and this journey offers a taste of it all.

Each day we aim to cover approximately 25-30km of the tracks whilst carrying a small day pack. Each night we arrive at our hotel or gite to find our luggage waiting for us.

  • Make a continuous 7-day ski tour across the Jura
  • Ski 180km on prepared trails - Ascend 3300m - Descend 3520m!

Jura Highlights Weekend

Following the success of our Grand Traverse of the Jura (GTJ) we have created a 'Jura Highlights' weekend offering a taster of this rural area.

The 'Jura Mountains Natural Park' covers some 1600 square kilometers and is situated just north of the Alps bordering France, Germany and Switzerland. The region is very proud of both its traditions and sports and is steeped in history, geology and gastronomy. Making it the perfect weekend get away!

We have based our weekends in Les Rousses, close to Geneva, to ensure its easy to access and that we are on the doorstep of some of the region's highest cross country ski locations. The Jura's forested limestone plateau makes for perfect 'Nordic rolling' terrain.

  • Advance your ski skills with this long weekend
  • Ski at La Vattay with gorgeous views of Lake Geneva and Mont Blanc
  • Enjoy tasting a variety of local cuisines

Trip Level

We have graded this trip as Introductory to Intermediate making it the perfect progression for those wanting to move on from our Italian Ski Weekends. This weekend will give you the opportunity to re-visit some of the basics, practice travelling techniques and progress to enjoy longer journeys. We aim to ski about 15km per day. Please note that our February date are a mixture of Intro and early Intermediates and our March dates will be aimed at an Introductory Level.

Learn to Skate Ski

An extended weekend in Italy dedicated to learning the art of 'skate skiing'. Developed in the 1980's 'skating' or 'freestyle' as it's known is a form of Nordic or cross country skiing where we ski on groomed trails moving in a similar motion almost to ice skaters or speed skaters but on skis whilst propelling yourself with the help of ski poles.

Enjoy mastering a new technique in stunning surroundings whilst gaining strength and fitness along the way.

These extended weekend trips suit classic track style Nordic skiers or alpine skiers looking for a different snow sport. Once mastered, a 'skate' can easily be fitted into a winter holiday in most resorts for both fun and fitness, but most of all to enjoy the freedom to explore the quieter corners of the mountains and valleys. This trip also suits those wishing to just refresh and perfect their skating skills.

  • Learn and improve the art of skate skiing
  • Enjoy skiing in a quiet alpine valley
  • Sample true Italian hospitality and cuisine
  • Meet in Chamonix, France for easy access from Geneva airport
  • Reduced price option for 'locals' joining on Day 2

Chamonix Cross Country: Snowshoe and Ski

This trip is especially suited to those who are regularly active and would like to experience a winter wonderland on both skis and snowshoes. It is aimed at those who have little or no cross country skiing or snowshoe experience. Both activities are very easy to pick up and enjoy in a week.

The world famous Chamonix valley in the French Alps is a good base from which to explore the alpine valleys and plateaus of the Mont Blanc massif. With Switzerland and Italy each just a 30 minute drive away it allows us to experience three different cultures in just as many days.

  • Learn to cross country ski 'classic technique'
  • Snowshoeing around Mont Blanc
  • Enjoy traditional cuisine in both Italy and France
  • Overnight in the high mountains in a remote refuge
